On October 22, FSC Korea successfully held the 3rd FSC Business Forum in Seoul. Centered around the theme of “Initiatives for Sustainable Development of Forests and Businesses,” the forum highlighted companies' vital role in ESG management. The event opened with remarks from Jörn Weichert, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy, and Park Min-hye, Secretary General of WWF Korea.
Participants included leading firms such as Samsung C&T, LG Electronics, Coupang, Hanmi Pharmaceutical, Lotte Wellfood, Daekyo, Maeil Dairies, E-Mart, Kakao, Hansol Paper, and Moorim Paper. Discussions focused on tackling the climate crisis and sustainable forest management, featuring insights from Kim Carstensen and Fabian Farkas of FSC International.
Highlights included the WWF Korea project on biodiversity conservation and presentations by FSC Ambassadors and eco-conscious influencers -Tyler and Nidi on their journey toward FSC certification through ESG practices. The forum wrapped up with a gala showcasing the first FSC-certified capsule collection created in collaboration with the fashion designer brand V.Vissi.
FSC Korea Country Director, Seong Ok Kwon remarked, “It was a valuable opportunity to gain insights from industry leaders while adding value to the FSC community through collaborative learning. By fostering connections, we aim to enhance our collective efforts in addressing the climate crisis and promoting sustainable forest management.” At the conclusion of the forum, a bouquet was presented to Kim Carstensen in heartfelt tribute to his remarkable legacy as the outgoing FSC Director General and current Special Envoy of the organization. This gesture celebrated not only his invaluable contributions but also acknowledged the inspiration he has provided and the commitment he has shown that has helped the APAC region thrive.
