How did Suzano begin its journey and shape its sustainability vision?

Suzano has more than a century of history as a pulp producer and paper manufacturer, with operations stretching worldwide. Guided by its purpose of “renewing life inspired by trees”, the company has built sustainability into each step of its value chain. Today, Suzano is focused on developing new uses for biomass and advancing the bioeconomy through innovations that come from cultivated forests.

How are sustainability and innovation integrated into Suzano’s products?

Suzano combines sustainability and innovation under the concept it calls INNOVABILITY. This approach relies on renewable, and biodegradable raw materials. A good example is its carbon-neutral notebook—the first in China’s pulp and paper sector to be verified under ISO 14068-1—which shows how product design can reduce environmental impact while meeting everyday needs.

Representatives of Suzano, SGS, Sun Paper, and M&G jointly unveil the carbon-neutral notebook for World Environment Day 2025.

What makes the carbon-neutral notebook stand out?

Developed with Sun Paper and M&G, the notebook is produced with FSC-certified virgin eucalyptus pulp. It achieves full cradle-to-grave carbon neutrality and offsets any remaining emissions through VERRA-certified carbon credits. To highlight biodiversity, the packaging features illustrations of endangered species, raising awareness while promoting certified materials.

How has the market responded to this notebook?

Launched on World Environment Day 2025, the notebook has been well received by both consumers and business partners. Its design and environmental credibility gained particular recognition from the Center for Environmental Education & Communications of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, aligning it with China’s dual-carbon goals.

What FSC-certified resources does Suzano manage today?

The company oversees around 1.7 million hectares of eucalyptus plantations, 92% of which have been FSC-certified by December 2024. Its certifications ensure that all supply is fully traceable and compliant with rigorous standards, giving customers confidence in both the product and its origins.

What trends are shaping demand for FSC-certified products?

Demand continues to grow as companies respond to stricter regulations, increasing ESG expectations, and consumer awareness. Businesses in China and globally are looking for responsibly sourced, certified materials that align with their sustainability strategies.
