At ARCH:ID 2024, the flagship expo for the architecture and building industry, FSC Indonesia led a pioneering effort to highlight sustainable materials, notably tropical wood and bamboo, among architects and building contractors. FSC facilitated collaborations between CHs and Smallholder Members, promoting the use of local sustainable wood in construction. This initiative culminated in the creation of the visually striking Tree of Life booth, a joint effort that effectively demonstrated the durability and aesthetic appeal of FSC-certified materials.
This expo also witnessed the collaborative efforts of Members,CHs and PLH coming together to co-create market opportunities and advocate for the FSC mission in Indonesia. IRCOMM as PLH is contributing to the part of expo space. The design of the Tree of Life booth was a joint endeavor between Bamboocoop, a CH and with one of their managements also being an FSC Member, and CV. KWaS, a furniture and kitchenware specialist CH. They worked together to construct the FSC Tree of Life booth using locally sourced Mahogany tropical wood, generously sponsored by our member PT. Sosial Bisnis Indonesia, and a member from Kostajasa. Bamboocoop went the extra mile by transporting expo display materials consisting bamboo laminated finished products all the way from Labuan Bajo, a province nearly 2000 km away from Jakarta.
FSC Indonesia amplified its engagement with the architectural community through a seminar on the sustainable use of tropical wood in residential construction, drawing 60 participants, mostly architects. This initiative highlighted wood's significance as a climate-friendly building solutions, advancing the FSC mission in Indonesia. The seminar aimed to foster ongoing dialogue and generate leads to maintain momentum in promoting climate resilience practices.
